“The Resolvement” is, in fact, the court immediately following Lúthien's request to Námo Mandos. To his surprise, he is moved by her true sorrow, but still can't do more than turn to the One, Eru Ilúvatar, who gave the gift of death to the Men. Is there actually a choice? Eru Ilúvatar speaks as his Valar understand it - through music. Mandos then interprets Lúthien, what Eru said: that he gives her a choice - the eternity and bliss of the elven kind, or one short human life with beloved man. And Lúthien doesn't hesitate.

„The Resolvement“ encompasses the pivotal moments of the story of Beren and Lúthien. Mandos resolves to notice and be moved by a matter of love between a she-elf and a human Man, Eru, The One, resolves to grant the she-elf a possibilty to choose for herself and by doing so to give a deeper sense to every deed that was done beforehand. And finally, the resolvement of Lúthien herself, seemingly easy to make, but ultimate nonetheless.

The first four verses of the prologue of this “graveyard” song were written at the time of writing “Lament Lúthien”. The idea was very strong, but the muse flew away for a long time. The rest of the text was hard to come by. On the other hand, Eru's “talking” interlude crept up somewhere on her own - as if it had already been written…

It was supposed to be monumental. Eru's otherworldly organ was to amaze and freeze. The main thing that was to create this effect was dynamics. The beginning of the song was supposed to be compared to the other songs on the CD, but Eru's interlude was supposed to surpass them all.

But it did not.

The end of this “artistic” intend of mine was caused by stupid mastering program, which compared to a dynamic bar all the songs contained in the album at the end of the CD master creation process. And because Eru's interlude was originally really giant, the program actually rounded her even more than all the other parts - even below the level of the rest of the song. The result was that the listener did not actually realize that something extraordinary has just happened.

I was still sorry about it for years.

Only now, in 2022, when we finally put this album on the web and the songs are no longer bound by the need for even volume, have I decided to annoy our sound engineer and ask him to open the archive, pull out this old project once more and increase the volume of the pipe organ used in Eru's answer. So, on this website you will find a new mix of “The Resolvement”. The organ can be heard now, but it's still not goosebumps, as I would like. Therefore even this mix does not completely meet my expectations. Perhaps it is simply necessary to accept the fact, that when Eru Ilúvatar speaks, it simply cannot be imitated by any instruments that mere people possess.

Death is a gift not to be taken off anyone.
Sorrow is a feeling that cannot move a Vala.
For I am only a receiver of souls.
So why do I feel her sadness now?
